Hello, you have come to this webpage because you scanned the QR code on the faulty Queensland Electric Super Highway fast charger at Carmila.
This page was created by a fellow concerned EV driver to make it easy to send an email to people who may be able to help fix this issue.
If you click on the Create Email button below, your email program will open with a prewritten message similar to the example shown below. If you choose to fill in the optional details, they will be included in that message.
There is also a section where you can describe in more detail how this failure affected you personally. For example, you may have arrived late to your destination, had concerns about your safety, or had to change your plans entirely.
None of the information you enter here is stored. It is only used to create the email on your own device, and you can then edit the message so it reflects your exact feelings about the issue.
To the Queensland Electric Super Highway Team, I am writing to let you know about a recent poor experience I had with the Carmila fast charger on the Queensland Electric Super Highway (QESH). I live in Mackay. On this trip I was travelling from Mackay to Yeppoon. I arrived at the Carmila charger on Monday 17 November 2025 and had difficulty charging as expected, with the issue adding about 60 minutes to my journey. We had to drive well below the speed limit to reach Marlborough, which caused traffic to build up behind us and led to unsafe overtaking manoeuvres around our vehicle. I am contacting you because this charger is part of the QESH, a Queensland Government initiative delivered by Yurika, part of Energy Queensland. The network was developed in conjunction with Economic Development Queensland and the Department of Transport and Main Roads. The network was established to help Queenslanders travel confidently in electric vehicles by addressing range anxiety and closing infrastructure gaps. It has enabled long distance EV travel from Coolangatta to Cairns for several years. However, the section between Rockhampton and Mackay is now becoming unreliable. Both the Marlborough and Carmila chargers have been inconsistent or not operational for some time, and there are currently no private alternatives in this corridor. This leaves drivers, particularly those who are towing or driving vehicles with limited range, with few practical charging options. This part of the network is critical for regional EV travel, and these outages make it difficult and unsafe to plan long distance trips. I ask that repairs and long term reliability improvements for this section be prioritised, and that clearer communication be provided to drivers. Yours sincerely, John Smith
